A Burns Night celebration in Amberley raised almost £1,400 for the ACTnow Church Tower Appeal on 26 January. Over 60 people tucked into the traditional meal of haggis, neeps and tatties in the Church Hall.
The haggis was addressed by our resident Scot, Ian Galbraith, and there was a toast “To the Lassies” by Jay Simpson, with a response by Valerie Galbraith.
Afterwards there was musical entertainment, introduced by Tony Hancock, better known for his organ recitals at St Peter’s Church, Parham, but on this occasion playing the piano, and a quartet of singers – Averil Sessions, Ginny Airey, Richard Robinson and Jeff Feakins – who provided a lively and polished performance of Scots songs.
The audience joined in several encores, the evening concluding with Auld Lang Syne.
